Put some easier PVE battle stuff, that we can practice without having a lot at stake with PVP. Mission or bounty board as an option to earn money other than trying to sell ores. Something to do when your best ship just got gotten
Under consideration

DzipCzI agree but in this way .I recomended to create npc for granding resource. For players whitch hate mining.

CMObviously no end-game stuff, but some simpler PVE mechanics would introduce players to combat without immediately getting obliterated in open space. Could serve as more of a tutorial-aspect rather than something you’d actually benefit from long term.

FrigidmanI'd just go for some random XS sized pirate NPCs that wander about harassing player structures (when owner is present) would add some spice to the landsape. They dont even need to be carrying any real loot. Just something to draw a need for base defenses that doesn't involve ganker warfare.

CorwanNot just space battles - planets need some life too. Right now everything feels like barren wasteland with players being the only living things there.

AdamPvE would be good, but maybe in very small scale? Something you'd have to actively seek out would be good.

Hazard0814Would be a better replacement for the daily free money

GallopingTortoiseIf there is a struggle to generate content for new players this might be a good idea but there are more pressing issues to be sorted out

Treeless RainThis game needs pve but it should be implemented after all the core systems are finally done... not right now.

Miles Tegas much as I love open world pvp, this game needs more faucets than just mining and ubi. lots of players are gonna burn out if the only real means of building wealth (and obtaining fancy stuff) is tied to mining.

odanmost if not all pvp games have a pve element https://www.keenandgraev.com/2010/03/01/pvp-games-are-making-pve-worse this is a great article that at least explains the way i think about it anyway

HawkslayerNot every player in a guild is a miner or a builder. For those who like combat, but don't always want the challenge of PVP (chill night after a long day, etc) then PVE content will give those people something to do. Not everyone likes PVP also, but can contribute to the org overall. Not every place is PVP vulnerable also.
PVP games with PVE content:
EVE Online.
Ark: Survival Evolved.
Rust.
should I go on?
PVP Sandbox games that flopped due to no PVE content:
Worlds Adrift
Last Oasis
PVE is required for SUCCESSFUL sandbox games. Something simple like creeps to go hunt down and kill to salvage their ship components. -

fabricethe introduction of an AI faction would give a common interest to the players, because the pvp greatly limits the interest, a very powerful AI faction would justify the industrial production of the players and also the creation of events much more interesting than the pvp.

Failrat895If an pve enemy is added that attacks player constructs, I think it focus on populated areas of space and go after lone players since it´s "easier" than attacking a large fleet and big faction bases. It should attack them aswell but not as often and a lot harder. To show people that it is in their best interest to work together in either a faction or just paying for protection for example.

Tasha UpchurchForcing people to play your game in a specific manner is not at all the way to go. Nearly everything that is added to the game should increase the freedom to play the game in some different way. I stopped playing this game. Why? The only things to do where PVP, mine .. or sell stuff on the market... None of those sound fun past the 3rd week. not when loosing in PVP means loosing so much.. and mining is so incredibly boring, and annoying.
I login to collect UBI.. wait for an update that adds something I can do in the game that sounds fun..... But your going to loose me and people like me completely, eventually. -

antapve is kind of needed to add more live to the game. can be avatar base stuff, or pve ships in space. although this is a player only game tasha is right that you need more to interact with to make the game interesting for more players and stay alive as a game

OblivionburnA hostile AI faction sounds like a really cool idea and would certainly open up some possibilities.

WyndleI would be all for this but it should still be player driven. For example, if someone tries to hack a ship to steal it and fails it has a chance to cause the ship to go out of control (i.e. drone npc). The drones may also seek other drones.
It could also be that some players and orgs may choose to unleash semi-autonomous abandoned constructs upon certain regions to annoy their competitors or provide fodder for noobs. -

KentShould be pretty easy to implement. Add some kind of <let's call it X Faction>.
Ships of that faction have X control unit that is programmed to just fly around and if something is in range it points towards it and opens fire from all of it's guns.
Those control units can be sold to the NPC bots (that's the bounty)
Ships can be salvaged (modified parts per next update) and may or may not have ore in the holds.
Simple work - lots of content.
Will make sense for hauler ships to have minimal protection too. -

BoostHungry"as an option to earn money other than trying to sell ores."
^ This. 100% This. New players can't jump right in and be expected to go PvP. New players and new groups of players all joining together should be able to start small with PvE and work their way up to PvP while still using PvE to fund their PvP adventures during times where PvP is less than profitable.
Some people will not want to do industry stuff, and those players will help to drive the economy even more so than people who do want to do industry stuff, but you can't expect those players to log in and immediately join some massive org that will give them free immediate access to PvP gameplay. -

JoeYour going to alienate a large amount of USD if you don’t build out items for solo players. This game is both robust enough and large enough to accommodate both multiplayer and the solo player aspect. Do research and you will find the solo community is not only large but has large pocket books :)
