Meteor Strikes
An interesting addition to the game and a means of "renewing" non-renewable resources would be random meteor strikes. The meteors could randomly strike unclaimed territory and/or parts of claimed territory with no constructs. The meteor could be composed of Tier I,II,III etc materials. The color of streak across the sky could indicate Tier of meteor. Players who noticed the meteor strike could race to chase it down and mine the valuable resources.
In future states players could PvP for control of mining rights to exotic materials that landed in a meteor strike.
In future states players could be forced to build "defenses" against meteor strikes to prevent damage to constructs.

InspirationI am for this, in fact I voiced this independently before and it does not need to be only meteorites.
It could also be vulcanism or tile tremors that shake up the content of a tile.
In this case, it would be nice if it had some correlation with the geology of a planet and that these are rare, but eventful moments in a game (beyond mining).
This could be through destruction processes died into the event, not just resource shakeups. -

eldrakeAfter second thought, i took my vote up back... I mean this is realy great idea in way of survival, when it will be random and rare and doing damage around and we need to think about defense and repair and getting rare resources from that could be nice balance of that damage. But I like it only in this case, not as way to renew resources. Arent those rocks for harvesting working this way? There are respawn for those already...

ExecutionsSomeone mentioned this as an idea, possibly even to regenerate ore underground. I hear people complaining about ship mining and how it would be op and unfair to new players, yet they are 100% against ore replenishment. On the starter planet you may lose all the meganodes and rare/uncommon ore fairly early, regular t1 will probably be fine for quite a while. Even other planets if the game increases in popularity on full launch, will become depleted of resources besides basic t1. +1

FollyI like this as a way of encouraging atmospheric pvp. Stick some gems and high-tier ores in the meteors and watch players fight over them.
Need the atmospheric pvp first though. -

WyndleI can see this being tied to asteroid mining. Some asteroids may spawn with motion and if the trajectory passes a planet's gravity well... down it comes.
