Better honeycomb material color management
Replacing material variation like “plastic red”, “plastic blue” with a single material, and the ability to choose the color on deployment or something similar.

James B.This is a good idea - I would suggest having a base set of materials with basic textures (wood, steel, carbon fiber, etc.) but then having something like a paint gun where you can spray paint the voxels, like a body shop painting a car. The base texture would be visible through the paint so some choice of material would still be needed.

SMAllsupCould this also come with added patterns? I love the Dark Grey Iron Pattern, but iron is very heavy and the design choice would impact the functionality of the ship, than rather just be visually pleasing.

ExPLiCiTI would like to see the ability to just paint on textures and colors and symbols like you can in Empyrion.

Dr RhubarbBeing in ship sales, this would really help in creating variant color schemes. But this is more valuable in that sometimes you may have a construct that has a hidden material of about one Liter somewhere in your build that you cannot find. And to deploy the BP, you need to make 180L to have that 1L required voxel.

Marcus Hdefinitely a good idea

Jeronimosingle honeycomb per material, and a Paint tool! yes yes yes

Killerjoy1YES, extremely needed. Especially since placing certain shapes of voxels can somehow be placed super weirdly or rugged edges/corners and must be replaced differently somehow so it won't be placed crookedly. It would be much easier to simply replace tricky-placed voxels than having to remove it entirely and redesigning from scratch again.

GodsFavoriteAntI like the idea, but I do think having a color selection default for placing blocks would be good. For example, if I have been placing black voxels to make a surface, I probably don't want to be using black voxels to add frames or features to that surface, I would want to switch my default color to something that contrasts.

Jake ArverJust be "inspired" by the color/texture system Empyrion uses is what I'd suggest and let the material itself be what you choose for the purpose and papplication (cosmetic, armor etc).... that would be really nice.

SpinelessYep, basic materials and a paint feature would be awesome.

Mal ReynoldsEspecially valuable since the honeycomb refinery batch size changes

FrigidmanComing from Empyrion, and its exceptional paint/texture tool... into this game where you have to clutter your inventory with a hundred different stacks of cubes just to use more than just "gray iron"... I am appalled how bad DU handles it. A tool and better color/texture management in this game is desperately needed for sanity.
And its a very good mention about "the lost voxel buried in a ship" of some other material, causing a blueprint to have ridiculous requirements to build. -

MADRAFiSome honeycomb material are very ugly. From esthetic point of view there should be more variety of textures to choose from

willolakeParticipated in a few forum conversations about this with plenty of ideas for a much better experience. Would be great to see it.

Dmitry NesterovHere you need a "paint gun" tool, and cartridges for it can be made from paint, and paint from flowers (flowers must be collected in the fields). You can only repaint one type of material (i.e. if it is plastic, you can only change it for plastic of a different color). More different paint colors (besides existing ones), i.e. you can manually set the rgb palette when painting. For ready-made structures, create several points that can be painted (separately - frame and glass).

JonGive us basic material types, and then a paint / texture tool. This will help sever side as players wont need to create so many different types of honeycomb items to build stuff.

derSchotteCan we have Glass Material with Color too.. pls...

HirnsausenAgreed. Also an ability to select and add a texture to the colored or uncolored honeycomb. And an ability to paint elements, too!

BaileyVandenbroekI suggest we can even put transparency to materials! I hate making ship without exterior view

eldrakeMy opinion is... It is good like it is. We do not need to change it, just better preview of honeys before crafting could be better...

ShazbotI appreciate the difficulty in mastering Voxelmancy, and have yet to do so, it reflects equally other difficulties in the game. However, there are improvements that would be helpful. For instance . . .
- Having the ability to find voxels of a particular type buried within a build (When the dynamic core 'Construction Information' chart show a 0.something for a honeycomb type that shouldn't be there maybe by user accident or a system issue. (Yes I have had Honeycomb show up in the Construction Information when there was nothing left attached to the core and I was able to pick up the core. I dismantled the entire build to find seemingly nonexistent voxels.)
- The ability to target all voxels of a particular type to change the type of honeycomb it/they are made of. (This should also work for the above mentioned unwanted buried voxels.) -

BaileyVandenbroekWe definitely need that it can help the server too! less different voxel just color system I wish we can make the voxel glass like to make cockpit by ourselves !!
