This would be nice, but only if the HUD is separated from the cockpit. There are situations in space where 3rd person is really required and you still need to see your instruments. I won't use cockpits until this is possible. But I would really like to have a good two seat cockpit, cause building a decent looking flight deck with voxels and the limited options we have on windows is close to impossible.
cockpits needs to give some kind of benefit to the ship, as of now there's no reason to use it besides aesthetics. bonus to lock range weapon accuracy even more weapon slots? being able to link both atmo and space radar? right now the guns do nothing maybr have it give significant buffs to xs guns? i apreciatte the aesthetic aspect of it but i also want a reason to justify the extra weight compared to a hover seat
More variety to all elements would be nice. As would skins and/or the ability to "paint" on not only elements but voxels as well.
And also more variation in all elements, keep the same specifications, but have different skins for engines, wings and other elements
This should be implemented. More variety of any element expands the creation of unique ships.... but not a priority. Maybe in the long future, just not right away or anytime soon.

Aside from the standard cockpit types, these should have been made modular in the first place.Select Seat type, select canopy type, then via Lua and customisation options, you then select the functions, just look at the Evochron CockpitViewer tool, this is how it should be done with a layout for each cockpit. you then can simply toggle on/off the screens inside or parts of the cockpit, then hook Lua to these if you wish
a motorcycle seat would be nice!!!
Fully transparent voxels - another solution. Ideally, in various color tones.
Please buff the current cockpit controller to use custom hud, show hud in third person, make it a bit lighter.
yes indeed add a few seats where applicable please free for fleet ops that take several to operate the ship or for group mining etc. maybe even to go fetch new member when they land maybe?
Add skins as a pay for option to support devs!
I am for having many more options in elements, but they should have different stats and intended roles. With the coming power system changes it may be worthwhile to have different sizes as well. Sure, you can design around chairs but a reinforced military cockpit could give a slight boost to energy refresh or similar. The same could be said for a cockpit style and/or pod style gunner element.
Personally, I'd like to see XS/S "Fighter" cockpits with weapon slots+capacity usage. Fighters would need a totally different UI really considering your screen cannot be obfuscated from piloting and firing.
