CasmeronCurrent mining system is pretty boring. Asteroid mining would be more engaging & might get us PvP options to go with!

MariusYes please :)

StarFox88This may bridge the gap between landing on far off planets and getting a little bit Stuck on Ailoth/Sanctuary.

DeadmonDo not make it hand-mining on asteroids we have to land on. Either ship-mining or don’t do this at all.

ThatGuy225I would put this high up on the list in my opinion. Especially with the Low Dev Cost tag, This would expand gameplay very much and allow for self sustaining space bases/colonies without having to make trips to the planet for much. Trade would also increase from deep space to possibly orbital shops and make space more relevant other than right now where it is just to get to the next planet. Everyone please vote for this so it can get to the dev's plates!

IcariIf the asteroid will be outside of the safe zone, it can provide a PvP option for everyone, miners would need military escort, etc and if the miner org doesn't like to be part of PvP they can always hire another org to protect them, etc.
This is a very common practice in Eve online and provides legitimate work for people who enjoy PvP but don't really like mining. This might trigger the first political gameplay for a lot of organizations. -

LandrionAsteroids that fly into the solar system could be an interesting way to introduce a source for respawning ore at random locations and fill the void between planets with some action
-

DinkledashAs part of this we should give ships an element set used to mine the asteroids, like a mining laser and a scoop. Similar to Elite Dangerous.

StalldAt least in starting area, feels difficult to find resources above T1 and some T2. Given that you can occasionally see through terrain to where other areas have been dug, feels like everywhere I go on one of the moons, every hex has been stripped of anything beyond the basics. I feel like having asteroids would alleviate this a little bit, as well as add more things to do in space beyond just travel between planets (which, without warp drives, is extremely tedious and time-consuming)

Elias VilldWith asteroid belt around the system ? Could be awesome, and create dynamic
-

DeadmonDont make this hand-mining on an asteroid we must land on. Ship mining or dont do it at all.
-
07 Oct, '20
ZanandharYes, please ! Asteroïds could spawn randomly from time to time and be found with radars.
-
07 Oct, '20
MADRAFiThis is very important to put such mechanic as soon as possible

LarryAs resourses become more barren in planets this will be crucial too continued player activity so id like too see persistent Asteroids or something along that lines of Roids they regen With the server reset so that thier is PvP Increase around these locations and Scramble for the Galaxies Richs :)

AceriaThis is personally the biggest feature that I'd want. However, I really hope that it isn't going to be "land on an asteroid and hand mine them". Let us live the space dream and have mining lasers attached to our ship. Give us a reason to fly up into space and be there, if it's just a different view for hand-mining, then I don't really see the reason to even bother taking the risk of losing my ship (unless yields are significantly higher than on the planet).

Delta_1This would be a great addition to the game! Maybe even adding elements that required to do asteroid mining so it's a little more technical. It would make harvesting from asteroids risky, but more valuable.

zelrunbe nice to for mining is space
-

HamsterThis would be a very exciting feature. Chasing large fast moving rocks is fun. Much more fun to get crushed by a rock than blown up in PvP.

CypsylusI think the game is going to need asteroids are not static. Right now when a ship crashes into an anything matter is erased. There will be a long term matter sinkhole if nothing is done. As asteroids would normally have momentum relative to an orbital body they should either respawn (boring/manageable and better than nothing) or move relative to orbital stellar bodies (exciting but probably very hard). For sure I hope they won't be like planets and be exploited resource wise then left dead.

stefanw1337Digging in the game in general is atrociously bad. Voting this because maybe somethings will be better along with it. Digging on a planet with scanners that seems to be on the face of the earth even though you're 100's of meters below ground, no real directional help as to where the ore are. It's too hard and makes it not worth it, it made me quit until this gets better. Guildie doesn't think it'll get any better. RIP

Ai whisperThere was a very nice forum post about also adding "comets" with a layer of ice that I feel would be really cool
-

Hazard0814Would ask for elements for mining attachable to containers
-

NonameYes please. Asap.

Sothas ship mining please.

kyypakkausWhy is asteroid mining tagged as under consideration while it is clearly in upcoming features at game stating screen?
-
08 Oct, '20
Mal ReynoldsWould love this, especially if landing on the asteroid was challenging (Kerbal style orbital mechanics and difficulty), and more so if the resources available were often higher tiers or rare (gems etc)
-

TrusinYes. I have not felt the need to leave sanctuary. This would be some motivation to get off the ground. Overlap on piloting and mining in skills.
-

theProphetThis would be pretty awesome. Going around and blasting asteroids for mullah is one of my favorite activties in No Man's Sky. My only complaint is how simple it is. I'm sure Novaquark could make something that's as fun, if not more engaging/complex. Love to see this definitily!

Dmitry NesterovAfter debugging FPS and introducing updated graphics, it seems to me that this is the most important (along with the rest of the updated mining). The word "asteroid belt" sounds very tempting. But! I would like the loot to be different. First with the help of a drill, then with the development of skills - with the help of laser and drones. And some asteroids will have to explode (dynamite). will be a very hard shell. To get to the ore.
-

RyotianLike Deadmon says- please make it so we can attach mining lasers to our ships. I consider Elite: Dangerous's asteroid mining to be the defacto standard for space mining. There's many different ways you can mine asteroids. But here it will be even better because we can customize mining barges from scratch! Thanks
-
09 Oct, '20
MemnarrThere also needs to be a way that we miners can see if anyone is around other then a radar, a 1 man mining barge will not be able to defend itself from the current cube meta that pvp is in.
-
10 Oct, '20
SeawingIs this not already ingame? The Thades belt is voxelized and contains ore nodes in its asteroids....
-
10 Oct, '20
HotspotWould be great if mining would be great if it would some pvp territory where are asteroids spawns by period and can be mined by space ship
-
12 Oct, '20
Mr_painIts perfect ! But only with mining lasers, if you need to land on the darn things, get out of your ship and start scanning/digging, your a goot pvp target and kinda makes it impossible to mine
-
18 Oct, '20
liquidkeyI upvote this feature
-
19 Oct, '20
GoldRogersI believe that asteroid mining should be added but ONLY strictly out of the safezone. This will encourage people to have to travel to pvp areas as well as keep mining with the hand tool somewhat useful/valued.
-
22 Oct, '20
GontharasI think asteroid mining is a good thing. However, it is noted from comments above that asteroids are hard to mine. I don't think a mining laser should be used, but some type of harpoon or tether to make landing on the smaller ones easier.

LumberingTrollThis needs to be implemented in the style of an Oort cloud far away from the solar system, give us a reason to use warp beacons, and set up stations and lots of opportunity for pvp.
If done in a faraway oort cloud the asteroids could also despawn and respawn if no one was around to simulate the movement of the asteroids and reasonably allow for infinite resources. -
24 Oct, '20
MurphchopsYes, this would be perfect for when the ore runs out on planets, the astroids could be coming in and out of the solar system providing a supply forever.
-
26 Oct, '20
MrL00MWould open up so much for PvP and engaging mining instead of whats there today!
-
28 Oct, '20
Neo_Ounder consideration having double votes than energy? omg at date of 10/29/2020 all moons of safe zone are empty of rare ores. i think its time to rise it a little like in the top of the upvoting list it is also in the roadmap login screen. that web is checked and updated from time to time?
-

PeckemMake asteroids more exciting with the highest returns but at the expense of more danger. Congregate asteroids in far corners where it takes exploration to find them. That should make them hard to find for both miners and pvpers.
-
17 Nov, '20
Uajrh1I'm a bit confused as to why this is "under consideration" when this is on the roadmap...
-
21 Nov, '20
Nameless TwoI don't know if it's a variation on this idea to spawn such asteroids with some resources and again despawn to create a dynamic asteroid resource that changes location and therefore requires constant exploration and scanning/scouting for new sources and of course quick collection of current sources before they disappear?

Taras ReznikI beg you to implement this in game!!! I have been playing for 15 days now. Mining t1 ore on Alioth can be profitable but the most fun ive had is when i went to Feli 2 days ago and mining on low G is way more fun. Been watching the expanse again too. This will add another 'fun' element to the game. This should not even need to be considered. IF you do bring them into game, you need to make them fairly plentiful or the already established will dominate and provide no opportunities for newer players post .23 . For the belt!

PlatekJust please, dont make these asteroids "static" aka one person mines them out and they wont ever regenerate.
-

BazookatoothThis sounds amazing.

Metsysstuff like graphical improvements with high dev cost, fewer votes and far less importance are confirmed planned, yet this here, which is far more urgently needed to give the game some much-needed necessary gameplay (and possible tensions with asteroids in pvp zones) and things to do, is still "under consideration". Cannot understand why. Please, the sooner you implement this, the sooner the players get actual content and will make their own content around it, like warfare over asteroid regions, far before territory warfare, which might very well be still far off into the future!!!
