ThaericPvP, and the loss of assets through it, is the only way to ensure the market does not fill with an endless supply of materials and items. As a heavy industrialist focused player, I readily admit that without steady combat and the need for players and corporations to replace ships and materials I will quickly run out of things to do. So despite me personally not having much interest in a lot of combat, I believe this is a vital component that should be focused on sooner rather than later.

StarstellarI would like to suggest that Alioth and surrounding moons all be within the final safe zone. You've said that you want new players to be able to access all aspects of the game without too much hardship. If new players get instakilled when they leave the 20km zone around the ark ship, as discussed previously for safe zone boundary, then they will never really get to experience space travel. There will be other star systems, tons of planets for PvP, the starting planet should be safe imo.

BoartatoLong term, territory warfare is going to lead to significant asset destruction for a material sink. It's going to create a vast amount of emergent gameplay as well. I believe it's critical towards maintaining longterm population in the game, and the sooner it + a reason to fight over territories exist in a fun way the sooner the better. A material sink is something we lack badly at the moment, once everyone hits max sized S and M class ships the average player will have nothing left to aim for.

WombleConsider having different, heavier, armour types only practicable in quantity for hover vehicles, as part of giving hover propulsion a role that's not simply better done by flyers.

SethcranWould like information about what happens to constructs when offline / away. Are they protected on my territory? Given how large space is, it can take hours to fly to and then back from a given planet. Can my ship just be destroyed with nowhere safe I can place it?
I'm assuming that atmospheric combat is a prerequisite to this item because otherwise there would be no way to defend your territory from attack. -

Billy BoolaI think Alioth and it's moons should be the safe zone, maybe redistribute the ore so that a few are only available outside this region. This should act as a civilized region, and the further a player gets from it the less civilized it becomes (Less Law enforcement). Players should have a ranking as to how welcome they are (pirates etc), commit lots of attacks and players might not be able to enter the safe zone without the 'law' impounding their ships and cargo so must live in the wild space

NonameStarter star system should be safezone. Making current safezones to pvp will result lots of players to leave.
New systems, can be FFA pvp.
All playstyles, including non pvp must be equally supported.
And please, make final safezone definitons, asap, but ask players first.
Consider that time and effort allready invested on current planets.
Please balance resources and owerall gameplay experience so that all playstyles are treaded fairly. -

DubbleTerritory PvP is the factor that will make the game competetive, it will attract a lot of players and it will create a lot of variety in terms of jobs. War weirdly enough progresses society more than peace. Real world and in this game.

Jake ArverTU should protect claimed tile from attacks and should have the option to allow for the tile owner to set allowance for use AvA firearms on the tile.
Attackers should need to first disable or "turn" the TU and only then can bases on the tile be attacked. as it becomes unclaimed or owned by the attacker. This should be hard, take time and be costly to achieve. To disable a TU there must be at least 2 unclaimed or friendly to attackers tiles connected to the tile attacked -

Nicadimisfeel this would destroy the game at this time. Also would not recommend making all planets combat potentially could cause a toxic game as finding other players bases is simple being they show on the mini map and based on the fact there are no automated weapons, players would have to be online 24/7 which is not possible than people would be able to jack ships during mining expeditions a player 100 meters underground comes to surface and ship is gone.

Andrey GloukhoffFinal safe-zone definition. Yes we need this - yesterday.
The rest can wait. There is months of work to be done on the current pvp balancing before we can even consider it for territories.
I'm all for territory pvp - it's what I came to DU for in the first place - but the current combat mechanics are still a long ways off - and space should be fixed first. -

CainI still think we should have two nations on of Alioth and one on a sister planet and we are at war with both sides having those planets and surrounding Moons as Safe zones.

kyypakkausWhen planetary pvp starts will current (npc) Market Places all over outside pioneer zone be safe or destroyable and lootable. Will items we set for sale be safe?
What will happen to player driven economy (supply and demand) if areas around npc-marketplaces are pvp. -

Stephanator1. PvP needs to be way more complex before this is ever put in place. 2. need to have a reason to care about what tiles we own. right now once ore is depleted, there's no reason to ever claim that tile again. as-is we can strip mine a km in a few days, making it completely worthless to anyone else. without some non-depleting resource nodes of some sort, there's no point to fighting for a tile.

CrazyhorsePvP and territory warfare is definitely going to be a game changer. The current safe zone houses the majority of the player base with miniscule pockets of PvP in space outside that zone. With the current state of gear and balance between aggressive players, things will get out of control fairly quickly without guides and rules that will balance game-play/styles (solo players that enjoy doing their own thing) , entire player bases will be lost.

MourningStarNot everyone plays this game for PvP. Adding this to every planet will kill the game for alot of people.

eldrakeFinal safe-zone definition ???? Isn't it just around Arkship and at Sanctuary ??? all other just temporary ?? If not... Why ?? What is game should be about without that ?? I am not even PvP focused one, actually opposite, business man... But if you will not need to count with that, pirates, wars, then it is kind of loosing sence...
But I cannot vote up because "- Tile protection when enclosed with other owned tiles" nonsence... We need defense, in best case autodefense. -

Creator@Stephanator, agreed, yet people will find nice builds and destroy them just to grief/troll/steal.
I believe we are a very far off way from this feature, hopefully 2 years out. When servers aren't stable on weekend, when inventory and market places, I would rather see what exists currently work smoothly/reliably first.
I really want pvp, I like the idea, I look forward to building ships for this purpose, just not until the game is fixed and pvp is greatly improved. -

ChoChoChosen1This goes hand in hand with the new star system one. There needs to be a lot more star systems. But also, the new star systems should be much richer in resources than Alioth, so it's something worth fighting over. There's no point fighting over a rock that's poorer than the starter planet. We can keep Alioth as a safe zone and the moons, but use their resources as a base line.

JustTheTruthInstead of speculating about what will happen in the next few months, look at what they've done in the past 6 years. Progress hasn't been fast or efficient -- the most basic tech in this game barely works and crumbles at scale.
Somehow, they still don't even have a PLAN for how to implement basic features like PvP...
Rockstar built GTA5 in about 3 years. Blizz took about 5 to make WoW, including testing. NQ took 6 years to give us an alpha and STILL doesn't even have a design plan.... -

BaconofWarI am for a PvP territory system but I am against solo's getting ganked by large orgs and cut out of hex ownership arena beyond Sanct all together. Unless this can be done to allow all players to own hexes outside of Sanct, I suggest this item wait until NQ can figure out a way anyone but big orgs to play the game.
I would suggest adding a "territorial center" that the owner can defend to hand over taxing rights vice actual player owned hex ownership. -

Dehydrated Llama MergedI call for the removal of the 3 planet safe zone. Players must prepare for space pvp rather then stay in their safe bubbles.

milkshakeI want to echo the sentiment that this is crucial for a resource sink and for gameplay/content. It's not interesting to just mine mine mine with no risk. There needs to be a competitive aspect and variety, which territory warfare should provide!
-

ManbrawnI understand the appeal for this, but it HAS to be well balanced. Solo players shouldn't have to worry about defending their only tile on a planet to a massive Org with hundreds of attackers (Hi Neighbor! I remember what you said about my tile, is this your post, lol?? ;) Maybe you can only "attack" a tile owned by a rival Org? Or warfare only between Orgs that have either engaged in a) aggressive attacks on others (like a Org bounty system), or b) a voluntary opt-in for warfare with benefits for doing so (talent levels 5% faster when opted-in, something like that). An Org shouldn't be able to just roll up to a solo tile they want and just, like, take it from the player, you know?
-

JabozPvP really needs to be balanced well before this is implemented, along with adding auto defenses. And there should be a significant safe zone a la highsec in EVE, for players that don't really want to get involved with PvP. There will be plenty of targets on the outer planets for territory warfare/PvP, so leaving the 3 planet safe zone (especially once the new solar system is introduced) seems fair. That being said, perhaps there could be an org warfare feature added to allow for some limited pvp even in safe areas? You will lose a lot of players if you make the safe zone(s) too small, and/or don't give players the ability to defend their territories while not online.

WyndleDevs, please make parking tickets a function for protecting against grief parking. It would set a reasonable time limit to force a dynamic construct to be abandoned. It seems reasonable for safe space to go for a week and different % of time shorter depending on security ratings of the planet or tile owners.
Pirate dens == 0.0 AKA steal/pop on site.
Bounty == community security rating system
