Allows players to get a chance to get their inventory back after death (but can still be stolen by pirates or people passing by)

Daphne JonesDumb idea. There's no need to waste dev time on this. Assume the inventory was destroyed with the body. There's plenty of loot in the ship itself and whatever cargo it was carrying. It's unrealistic to expect that the attacker should recover every scrap of value in a ship he's just blown up.
If you feel it's necessary, spawning containers is unrealistic. Spawn a dummy body and make it lootable. But, better, don't waste dev time on it. -

Gundami really don't recommend it

Kat McClureI would prefer a set "Recover Period", say a week, where only the player can access. The icon / symbol would be green to you, and gray to others when in safe zones. After this week period it becomes blue and lootable by others. In pvp zones the safe recovery is shorter, like a day. After that, it turns red and lootable. To go with this idea, you should be able to scan for them (like the mining 4th tool) and talents to make finding easier - improved distance, better signal, etc.

WhiteZeusagreed on Daphne's point. at this point we're optimizing gameplay for a broken system. once things are settled and stable then yeah, perhaps

TaelessaelAs nice as this feature sounds, having witnessed how people can unintentionally (or intentionally) bog things down and cause lag and collision bugs by repeatedly dying and respawning, I'd prefer either just deleting the loot, or have some kind of unified loot collection system (such as on death your "loot" is added to a "loot inventory" on the core of whatever construct you are standing on).

DubbleMakes sense for Avatar Vs Avatar PvP. Currently there is no need though, seeing as the player pretty much explodes if they die, so their loot would realisticly be damaged or fully destroyed.

Jake ArverLoot drops are part of what makes an MMO an MMO so yes, this makes sense. But please do add RNG to what drops and what does not..

Archerer8791The game is already tedious enough. It is only fair to have some way to recover the items that were in inventory before death, permanently losing them is dumb, eg, storing scraps in inventory in case I crash a ship.

jonto easy to abuse. We are being attack ...everyone get the good stuff and put it in ur inventory... char with max weigh ability become feasible
right now ppl popcorn/delete items if they are losing a battle. -

Mal ReynoldsThis only really makes sense if there is FPS gameplay, until that is the case, this is low priority IMO. Even if we have FPS gameplay, I would prefer a bounty system where criminal players had bounties and we could kill to collect, or similar. Bounty (collectible, reduces to 0 on collection/death) plus infamy score (increases indefinitely).

Treeless RainWhen you die- you shouldn't get everything back. Like in EVE, there should be a dice roll as to what drop from your personal inventory and what drops from your ship when it is destroyed. There should also be a player accessible despawn timer.

GallopingTortoiseNot a bad idea but should be a low priority for Dev's

Dmitry Nesterovnanopack - can still be imagined in the genre of space, but the container that appears instead of the body is too much. Agree with others. Better to let it be a mannequin (corpse), which can be penetrated into a nanopack. But this won't be easy for strangers (limited number of attempts. Hacking skill required), and easy for friends or corporations. The corpse turns into a skeleton and becomes covered with dust over time, then you cannot enter the nanopack - and you can only recycle it.

VolotaaThis is absolutely ESSENTIAL for Avatar vs Avatar PVP, no questions asked; If things like Avatar vs Avatar PVP, fall damage, or other natural deaths are added, YES!!! WE NEED THIS no questions asked.
But if you die being blown up with a ship, no... it should be destroyed, unless it has some kind of incredible strength
